Close Enough For Jazz (CEFJ) is the official jazz ensemble of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL). Founded in 2008 by guitarist Adam Cushman as a social outlet for an occasional jazz jam session with APL employees, the group has grown (shrunk?) to a quintet of regular members that rehearse weekly. In 2015, the band began to “gig out” at APL corporate functions, local restaurants, and pubs with very positive audience response. As APL’s musical emissaries, the band supports art, music, and cultural events in nearby communities through their jazz performances.
